Youth Classes

Good questions outrank easy answers...

Working in tandem with our case management process, The Center offers a variety of classes to help further support and educate our students where they need the most assistance. Working to develop and retain skill sets ranging from self confidence and healthy communication practices to understanding the dangers that come with substance use.

We will open these classes for enrollment to our students on a case-by-case basis, catering to each individual’s needs and plan.

Our Classes

Power of Conversation

Many students struggle with conflict resolution, peer influences and unhealthy communication.  The Power of Conversation curriculum helps teens improve listening and empathy skills, identify non-verbal and social communication cues and authentically express their thoughts and feelings productively. This is accomplished through a structured group setting that can be utilized by teens who find themselves in recurring incidents with peers related to these issues.

Voices

The Voices curriculum is about taking a journey of self-discovery and although this class is primarily young women, anyone is welcome. We will dive into the topics of healthy decision making, building confidence and resilience, building strong social connections, mental health, trauma, substance abuse and more. We will provide a safe and supportive environment for students to work on peer relationships and develop their life skills, equipping students with practical strategies to deal with stress and living a healthy lifestyle.

Young at Heart

Our Young at Heart curriculum is geared toward students ages 11 and 12 and fosters ethical, responsible, and caring young people by modeling social and emotional learning as well as appreciation for diversity. This class is instrumental in building character skills, so students are equipped to make important decisions pertaining to behavioral choices, personal identification, and values. This class is typically held in small groups where students can voice their opinions in a safe atmosphere and learn from one another.

Navigating Life

This class has two groups – one for students ages 13 - 15 and one for students ages 16 - 18. Navigating Life explores the dangers and attitudes regarding alcohol, marijuana, and other substance use in regard to the teenage transition. Students will analyze their own personal behavior, learn about the lifelong consequences that occur when substances are abused and identify alternative behaviors.

Pathways to Recovery

This intensive substance abuse recovery program offers substance abuse evaluation, instruction of a four-step recovery program and case supervision for students at The Center. This program is based on a 4-Step model and focuses on life skills, enhancement, diet, nutrition, eating disorders, resiliency, group instruction and the development of self-esteem.

Individual and Family Therapy

Our licensed counselors assist youth ages 11 through 18 and their families when dealing with substance use, adolescent development, mental health, and family conflict issues. Counselors meet with students one on one and in a family setting with one or both parents.
